University of Birmingham survey on displaced Ukrainians in the UK

A short note on a University of Birmingham survey showing how visa precarity is shaping work, housing, and future plans for displaced Ukrainians in the UK.

A University of Birmingham report summarises a nationwide survey of 2,984 displaced Ukrainians in the UK and highlights practical impacts of short-term immigration status across work, housing, education and wellbeing: the report notes 218,000+ arrivals under the Ukraine visa schemes, 28% of displaced Ukrainians are under 18, 76% of respondents are economically active, and 67% report working below their skill level; reported weekly pay averages £524.75 (median £462) versus an estimated Skilled Worker salary threshold of ~£802/week, meaning only 8% of respondents who shared wages would meet that requirement, and looking ahead 72% say they would like to remain in the UK even if it were safe to return to Ukraine (only 5% would return).
